Featured in Werde Magazine, Germany
We're delighted to share that The Chestnut Tree was recently featured in Werde Magazine (Germany), in a piece titled "Bildung unter Bäumen" ("Education Among Trees") by journalist Stephanie Eichler, with photography by Emanuel Herm — a lovely look at how the Baix Montseny campus brings socio-ecological pedagogy to life.
To mark the occasion, our founder and Head Teacher Mercia Silva Eichmann shared this reflection with our community:
We are excited to share that our community has been featured in Werde Magazine in Germany — a meaningful recognition of all we've built together over the past four years.
Looking back, I'm in awe of our collective resilience — the long hours of work, tight budgets, and unwavering commitment to creating a nurturing space for our children. In a world that often measures success through appearances or possessions, I firmly believe in the lasting value of what we offer:
- Patience and listening: We honor each child's pace and voice.
- Individualized learning: Tailored curriculums to meet unique needs.
- Emotional balance and nature connection: Cultivating self-awareness and empathy.
- Supportive teaching environment: Collaboration over competition.
- Immediate action on behavior: A safe, bully-free space.
- Welcoming community: Families are always invited to join and participate.
If in this world, what we do isn't yet a value, I vow to continue this path, with love, patience and courage!
I'm deeply grateful for this community and all we continue to build together. Thank you for your trust, love, and support.
