Year 1–2 Curriculum
Long-term plan
Across six terms, Years 1 and 2 build English and Catalan/Castellano literacy and grammar, number and place value through geometry and measurement, and thematic units spanning art, geography, science, history, design & technology, and computing — alongside our "Diplomacy" strand (caring for others, gifts and giving, friendship, sacred places, volunteering) each term.
Literacy & Languages
Reading and writing in English, plus SPaG across English, Castellano, and Catalan — sentence structure, punctuation, adjectives, and word-building.
Maths
Number and place value, addition/subtraction, geometry, multiplication and division, fractions, and measurement.
Science & History
Seasons, materials, plants and animals, first inventors, first cities, and significant historical figures.
Art & Design
Colour, sculpture, fabric design, and studies of artists such as Joan Miró and L.S. Lowry.
Geography
Our local area, our country, seasonal weather, and the wider world.
Computing & Diplomacy
Early computing skills, online safety, ScratchJr programming — alongside caring for others, friendship, and volunteering themes.
